Born April 14, 1963 in Louisville, MS. Nunn relocated to Davenport, IA as a child and compiled a 168-8 amateur record before turning pro in 1984 and ultimately capturing world championships in two weight divisions.

He won the NABF middleweight title before stopping gold medalist Frank Tate (TKO 9) for the IBF belt in 1988 and earning KO magazine “Fighter of the Year” honors. An impressive string of five successful defenses against Juan Roldan (KO 8), Sumbu Kalambay (KO 1), Iran Barkley (W 12), Marlon Starling (W 12) and Donald Curry (KO 10) followed. He lost the belt to James Toney (TKO by 11) in 1991 but rebounded to become a two-division champion by annexing the WBA super middleweight belt with a 12-round win over Victor Cordoba. Four successful defenses were next – including a rematch with Cordoba (W 12) and Merqui Sosa (W 12) - before losing the belt via split decision to Steve Little in 1994. He lost to Frankie Liles (L 12) in a bid to regain the title and continued to box until 2002, winning the NABF light heavyweight title and dropping a split decision to Graciano Rocchigiani for the WBC belt.

His 58-4, 38 KOs record includes wins over John Scully, Alex Ramos, Booker T. Word and William Guthrie among others.
