Born Yessica Lizbeth Chavez Valencia on July 15, 1988 in Mexico City, Mexico. 

Chavez turned professional on June 12, 2006 in Cancun, Mexico with a 4th round TKO over Maribel Cruz. “Kika” won the vacant NABF light flyweight title before capturing the IBF light flyweight belt in just her 16th pro contest. Three successful defenses followed before she was stripped of the championship. She scored a decision over Irma Sanchez for the vacant WBC silver light flyweight title and defended twice before winning the vacant WBC international flyweight title and then defeating Arley Mucino (W 10) for the WBC flyweight belt in 2015 to become a two-division champion. Chavez successfully defended six times, including a pair of decision wins over Esmeralda Moreno. Unsuccessful against Guadalupe Martinez Guzman (L 10) in an attempt at a third divisional title she retired from the ring in 2021 after two more wins. 

Chavez, who was trained by Hall of Famer Nacho Beristain and was 11-1 in world title bouts, compiled a professional record of 32-5-3 (4 KOs) that includes wins over Yesica Bopp, Tenkai Tsunami and Naoka Fujioka.​
