HALL OF FAME WEEKEND FESTIVITIES
Annual Hall of Fame Weekend celebration set for June 5- 8
CANASTOTA, NY –MARCH 4, 2025 - The International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum is pleased to announce that “Irish” MIcky Ward will attend 2025 Hall of Fame Induction Weekend festivities set for June 5-8 in “Boxing’s Hometown.”
“’Irish’ Micky Ward was a true warrior inside the boxing ring and the Hall of Fame is thrilled that he will be in Canastota to participate in 2025 Hall of Fame Weekend events,” said Hall of Fame executive director Edward Brophy.
Boxing out of Lowell, MA, Ward was one of boxing's most exciting fighters. He turned pro in 1985 and used a crowd-pleasing style to register a 38-13 (27 KOs) record that includes wins over Shea Neary, Reggie Green and Emanuel Burton. In 2002 and 2003 Ward engaged in an epic trilogy with Arturo “Thunder” Gatti (1-2). Following their third bout Ward announced his retirement from the ring. During his career, the junior welterweight star was in “Fight of the Year” three times (2001 vs. Burton, 2002 and 2003 vs. Gatti). The Fighter, an Academy Award-winning motion picture chronicling his life, featured Mark Wahlberg as Ward and Christian Bale as his brother / trainer Dicky Eklund.
The Class of 2025 to be honored includes boxers Manny Pacquiao, Vinny Paz, Michael Nunn, Yessica Chavez, Anne Sophie Mathis, Mary Jo Sanders, Cathy “Cat” Davis, Rodrigo Valdez (posthumous), Owen Swift (posthumous), referee Kenny Bayless, cut man Al Gavin (posthumous), referee Harry Gibbs (posthumous), broadcaster / journalist Randy Gordon and television producer Ross Greenburg.
The 2025 Hall of Fame Induction Weekend is scheduled for June 5-8th in “Boxing’s Hometown.” Many events will take place in Canastota and nearby Turning Stone Resort Casino throughout the four-day celebration including ringside talks, fist casting, fight night, 5K race / fun run, boxing autograph card show, banquet, parade and induction ceremony.
