HALL OF FAME FLIES FLAGS AT HALF-STAFF
FOR TRAINER KENNY ADAMS
CANASTOTA, NY - APRIL 10, 2025 - The International Boxing Hall of Fame announced its flags will fly at half-staff in memory of Hall of Fame trainer Kenny Adams, who passed away Monday at the age of 84.
“From Olympic champions to professional world champions Kenny Adams dedicated his life to teaching the ‘sweet science’ and he earned the respect of everyone in the boxing community,” said Executive Director Edward Brophy. “The Hall of Fame offers our condolences to the Adams family and joins the boxing world in mourning his passing.”
A decorated US Army veteran, Adams was assistant coach of the 1984 US Olympic boxing team that won eleven medals, including nine gold, and head coach of the 1988 team that won eight medals, including three gold. As a pro trainer, he worked with 26 champions including Diego Corrales, Edwin Valero, Frankie Liles, Terence Crawford, Johnny Tapia, Jorge Linares. Ray Mercer, Al Cole, Vince Phillips, Charles Murray and Kennedy McKinney.
In 2024, Adams was elected into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
