ESPN2 FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS
IN CENTRAL NEW YORK

CANASTOTA, NY - JANUARY 20, 2015 - Boxing fans in Central New York and a nationwide audience on ESPN2 were treated to an exciting night of professional boxing at Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, NY on January 16th.

In the main event, rising middleweight from Rochester, NY Willie Monroe Jr. scored a 10-round unanimous decision over Austin, Texas’ Brian Vera to up his record to 19-1 (6 KOs).

ESPN2 televised the fight on its popular Friday Night Fights series with the broadcast team of Teddy Atlas, Joe Tessitore and Bernardo Osuna calling the action from ringside.

Atlas filmed Teddy's Fight Plan segment, where he details the strategies for the main event participants, at the Hall of Fame in the world famous Madison Square Garden boxing ring. ESPN2 also filmed a segment on the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2015 including boxers Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe, “Prince” Naseem Hamed and Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini.

While in Central New York for the fight action, HBO’s unofficial boxing judge Harold Lederman stopped by the Hall for a walk down boxing’s memory lane. Also lightweight prospect and 2014 Boxcino lightweight tournament winner Petr Petrov (35-4-2, 17 KOs) visited the Hall of Fame for the first time.
